God works in mysterious ways. How could a widow in Alabama find the support of a BBQ restaurant owner in a small town in Indiana? God. Period. There is no other way to explain it. In ways that can only be described as divine, Faylene Lawson crossed paths with Widows Link director, Marlene Craft. Why is this divine? Marlene is from Alabaster, Alabama. Faylene is from a small town in western Indiana.
After this friendship sparked and developed, Faylene began praying for unique ways to support Widows Link. Being a widow herself, Faylene’s financial resources were limited but her faith in God has no limits. After spending much time praying for an open door, a thought crossed her mind. Her and her husband, owned a very large BBQ grill but since his passing it was no longer being used. One day, God caused Faylene’s path to cross with a gentlemanwho had just started his own BBQ business and was in need of a grill.
Faylene and Ross Deschamp, of Dad's BBQ, worked out a deal to exchange the grill for a percentage of the restaurant’s profits to go to Widows Link. Within 2 weeks of this agreement, this business owner booked up his calendar for the next several months. This man has been faithful to his promise of sending support to Widows Link and God has continued to bless his business as well.
It was exciting back in February when Marlene was able to meet Ross face to face. We appreciate each and every person who continues to pour in prayers, love, support, and financial resources into this ministry.
Deuteronomy 14:29 (NASB)
29 The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
